Wise Virginia Expedition - July 2007
In a 2 1/2 day period in July, 2007, 980 RAM volunteers
provided free medical care in a total of 6397 patient
encounters at the Wise County Fairgrounds in Virginia.
LOV-LAMP (Lions of Virginia - Assisted Medical Project) is
gearing up for the 6th year to work with RAM on this project.
- extracted 3731 bad teeth
- filled 2191 teeth
- 242 Cleanings
General medical doctors
- 6009 consultations
- extensive lab procedures
- pharmacy and telemedicine
- 200 women received Mammograms
Vision Care
- 943 eye examinations
- 888 persons received free prescription eyeglasses
The total value of free care delivered in 2 1/2 days was a
staggering $1,365,804.00
Our District under the direction of Ashland Lions Club's
Lion Rich Evans, PDG operate a makeshift kitchen to
provide hot nutritious meals for all of the Medical
Volunteers and sack lunches for all the patients who
stand in the hot sun for hours for medical care. These
Lions work on their feet from 3:00AM until 4:00 PM. They
complain about being tired but all exclaim a feeling of
exhilaration.
