On June 7, 1917 Melvin Jones; a Chicago, Illinois resident; created the Lions
"Knights for the Blind in the Crusade
against Darkness" for the greater service
and support to help the blind. They were
so impressed by her speech the delegates
voted to focus their efforts to the blind.
This became the ultimate driving force
